Florida Man Arrested for Cache of 1,000+ Child Porn Files

Sometimes people get interested in child pornography and may have a small stash of physical or digital files of children in sexually suggestive poses. But it is also common for collectors to go overboard and have hundreds or even thousands of files.

This was the case for an Ocala man, who was recently arrested after detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office found more than 1,000 videos of child porn on his devices. The case began when detectives were informed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone had uploaded child porn files to several social media platforms.

It was confirmed that a 35-year-old man from Ocala was the person identified in the tips. Detectives searched the man’s home and interviewed him. He initially denied viewing child porn and would not even admit to knowing what it was. However, he later admitted to being “obsessed with little girls.” He also told investigators that he had always “wanted to touch a child.

The man admitted that he used several fake social media accounts to acquire child porn images. This led to a massive collection of his electronic devices. In fact, investigators found more than 1,000 child porn videos on three of his devices.

The man was taken into police custody. He faces 20 counts of child porn possession and is being held on a $40,000 bond.

Detectives are concerned that the man may have personally victimized a child based on his comments.

The man does have a previous criminal record. In 2011, he was arrested for defecating outside of Fort King Middle School after feces were found by classrooms on multiple occasions. He was later charged with trespassing.
