City Commissioner Faces 300 Child Porn Charges

A 90-year-old man from Florida is facing 300 child porn charges. The man, the former mayor of Lake Alfred who is currently serving as the city commissioner, was recently arrested after he was found possessing hundreds of child porn images and videos.

Authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This led them to an Adobe Cloud account that belonged to a Spectrum Communications customer in the Lake Alfred area. The search was narrowed down to the city commissioner.

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office served the man a warrant at his home. The man admitted to possessing child porn on his computer. Investigators searched the man’s home and found a thumb drive plugged into a laptop. It contained 300 images and videos depicting children between the ages of 2 and 12 engaged in sexual acts. Some of these files depicted prepubescent victims.

The man claimed he discovered the child porn after clicking on lewd images of women and transvestites. These photos allegedly redirected him to the child porn images. The man admitted that he would look at the child porn photos several times a month for sexual excitement.

One neighbor, who has known the man since she was a child, finds the situation a little scary, even though it does not appear as though any children in the neighborhood were affected by the man’s actions. Another neighbor, who has an 11-year-old daughter, found the man kind. He never would have suspected that the man would be into child porn.

The man was appointed mayor of Lake Alfred in 2012, serving until 2019. He was later elected a city commissioner. His term runs through 2027.

Child porn is not only illegal but also taboo. Society frowns upon it, with those viewing child porn often seen as “perverts” and “monsters.” However, those who view child porn do not usually have any physical contact with children.
