Successful Petition to Remove Offender from Registry
The Law Offices of Gilbert A. Schaffnit has successfully petitioned the Circuit Court in Broward County, Florida to have another offender removed from the Sex Offender Registry.
After a long battle, justice was served when the Honorable Elizabeth Scherer ordered the removal of our client from the Florida Sex Offender Registry. The name of this client has been redacted to protect his identity. He now no longer has to live with the stigma of having his picture and name along with other identifying information available to the public.
The State of Florida has some of the most draconian sex offender registry laws in the country. It is much easier to get on the Registry than to be removed. Many individuals convicted of qualifying sexual offenses in Florida must register for a minimum of 20 or 25 years before they are eligible to Petition the Court for Removal. Some individuals are required to register in Florida even if they only visited for a short time and are required to register in another State. Once they are removed from the Registry in their home state, they may qualify to be removed from the Florida Sex Offender Registry as well. The Law Offices of Gilbert A. Schaffnit is dedicated to conducting a full file review of your case to determine if an offender is eligible to Petition the Court for Removal and, if you qualify, diligently pursue every legal avenue to have your name, image and likeness removed from the Florida Sex Offender Registry.
