Teacher Arrested on Child Porn, Solicitation Charges

A 34-year-old man was arrested after an investigation showed that he was having a relationship with a student at Martin County High School in Stuart. The automotive maintenance teacher is facing charges of child pornography possession and soliciting a minor.

The investigation began after a student told his mother of the rumor. That was when she alerted authorities.

Detectives from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the man’s phone and were able to find sexually explicit images of the student as well as communication between the student and teacher. This communication was also sexually explicit.

The inappropriate relationship between the teacher and the student started last year, when the student was just 13 years old. The man is facing multiple charges or child porn and soliciting or enticing a minor. He is currently in jail with no bond set.

According to the Martin County School District, the man has been terminated as a teacher. Detectives have been working closely with the school district on this case. The school is asking parents to speak to their children about the situation. They should ask if they have had any inappropriate contact with the teacher or if he had asked them to forward or take any inappropriate photos. Any victims should contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
